The University of South Carolina approved pay raises for Steve Spurrier and Ray Tanner.
Both coaches led their teams to unprecedented success in 2011. Spurrier led his USC football team to it’s first 11 win season, while Tanner’s baseball team won the NCAA Baseball Championship for the second year in a row.

Spurrier will now earn $3.3 million a year. All of his assistant coaches were also given raises.

Tanner had his yearly pay upped to $650,000 a year, in addition to his pay raise, was also rewarded with a year a one-year contract extension to 2016.

George Rogers has been considered the greatest running back in Carolina Gamecocks history. Even winning the 1980 Heisman Trophy Award.

Marcus Lattimore racked up a few awards with the monster rushing day he had against Navy. Lattimore was honored as the SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week. He was also selected as National and SEC Player of the Week by Rivals.com.

The SEC fared rather well in Week 1 of the 2011 football season finishing the week with a record of 10 wins and 2 losses.

The big winners were the #4 LSU Tigers topping #3 Oregon, #2 Alabama crushing Kent State, and #12 South Carolina coming from a 17 point 1st half deficit to rock East Carolina.

The winning SEC teams average score was 42 points, showing just how powerful SEC offenses are this 2011 season.
